A Fool [Psalm 14:1]

Psalm 14-1

The fool says in his heart,
    “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
    there is no one who does good.     -Psalm 14:1 NIV

Hello All, Happy April Fools! I was thinking about writing an April Fools post instead of a devo, but I decided against it. Oh well. I saw this as the verse of the day on Bible Gateway. It just kind of jumped off of the screen at me. It says that fools say in their heart, there is no God. I would hate life without God, without the assurance that everything really is going to work out. It’s like when you’re watching a movie for the first time. You’re on the edge of your seat, but just start to relax when you start thinking, ‘It’s just a movie, everything is going to work out.” You can have that same sense of comfort in your life:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.   -Romans 8:28 NIV

If you take a minute and think about that verse, it becomes crystal clear that everything is going to work out for those who love Him. This is the catch for a lot of people. The think, “Oh, everything is going to be fine, the Bible says so.” Quiz time!:

Question 1: Do you love God? ___________________

Did you answer yes? If so, are you sure? I mean, you love the fact that you will go to Heaven if you’re a Christian and all, but do you love God? If you love God you will strive to be like Him in every single second of your life. I have a confession, I don’t always love God. He’s really easy to get mad at, “If you’re in control of everything, why did this happen?!” etc. See my point? We don’t always love God. It’s human nature not to. Human nature wants us to be completely independent. Without having to listen to anyone. SPOILER ALERT: This isn’t going to happen! You will always need to listen to someone, most likely a many someones, when you’re my age, it’s your parents, teachers, etc. (and no, I’m not saying that when you grow up you should stop listening to your parents!) Well, I guess I’ll be signing off, Happy April Fools everyone!
